How Had I Made A Difference.....

How can I make a difference? In what? To prevent Earth of having another ice age. Global Warming is now the talk of the town. Its everybody responsibility to stop this from happening. Everyone must play a part and that is what I am doing now.

There are ten ways in which we can help save the before it is too late.

1. Choose vegetarian or vegan meals

Every Friday, I will try not to eat meat and its good. Its healthier and I feel good after having a vegetarian meal.

2. Recycle more

Every time when I find something that be recycled, I will put it into a box and when recycling man comes I will give it to him. Recycling helps reduce the amount of rubbish and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emission.

3. Use compact fluorescent bulbs

My family changed the bulbs to fluorescent bulbs; it helps saves energy and preventing a hole in your wallet. Now electricity bills are so high, it is wise to change the bulbs.

4. Fill the dishwasher

Use your dishwasher only with a full load or do them by hand with minimal water. It reduce carbon dioxide.

5. Use recycled paper or scrap paper

When doing questions or mathematical sums, I always use a rough paper to do. It saves the trees, which are needed to produce oxygen so scrap papers are not scraps.

6. Replace old appliances and reduce reliance on them

Every now and then, my mother would check on the appliances for damages and tear. When it is time change them, we will get the one with more energy saving product. We also try not to toast bread or use the juicer when we can buy juice.

7. Use a push mower and reduce the law

We just got a push mower that is mush cheaper an electrical one. It saves lots of energy and reduces carbon dioxide emissions.

8. Unplug unused electronics

Even when electronic devices are turned off, they use energy. We must try to make the slight effort by switching the main power or unplugging. It really helps and if everyone appliances are off, it could saves more electricity than you can imagine.

9. Grow fast growing plants

Grow fast growing plants helps increase the speed of the production of oxygen.

10. Use public transportation

Use public transportation is a good way, instead of taking the car we take public transportation.

There are so many ways in order reduce carbon dioxide emission and I am sure we can save the world.

Growth camp

My friends and I went up to Malaysia for our annual growth camp. Instead of doing all the high elements and eating the disgusting camp food. We spent our three days and two nights visiting a home, climbing up the mountains and enjoying ourselves..

On the first day, we spent a quarter of the day crossing the causeway. We finally reach the spastic home in Johor. In the spastic home, we learn valuable lessons and new things from them. One lesson is that in life we must not take things for granted and always cherish what we have now. In the Johor spastic home, many young children are spastic, they are not able to walk properly and are very unfortunate. We played with the children and they even teach us things. It was an experience touched many! At night, we played games hat make us trust one another. We had a reflection that closes the day.

On the second day, we had warm up for the highlight of the camp, climbing Gunung Panti, a challenge that really shows someone’s character. We had warm ups and off we travelled to the mountain. The first part to get to foot of the mountain on foot then the climbing started. We climbed and climbed as though that it was never ending. To make things worse it was raining so the floor is slippery making it worse to balance. Everyone stopped looking at almost a ninety-degree slope. We climbed slowly. I crawled. Soon one-by-one we made it. It was a great accomplishment. We continued the trek and light we saw was like something we did not see in a long time. It was almost a breeze coming down the mountain. There were hiccups but we made it through. We not only learn valuable values but also see and hear many new things. This trip really bonds us together.

It was the day of coming home. We missed our nice comfortable bed and the joy we had during this trip. This growth camp really improve our life and it also make me a better person on the whole.

technology a treat or a promise

Technology, a threat or a promise? Technology is now the talk of town. Technology has improved over the years, new gadgets and cures are now available. Technology are improving our lives and making work a lot easier. I agree that technology is more than a promise than a threat.

Technology has been constantly increasing itself. From the invention of the first aeroplane to now the fastest jet plane. Technology has improved for us man. We use technology for every aspect in our daily lives now. For both entertainment and work. We now have the latest LCD television, mp3 and all other gadgets. These technologies are use for our own entertainment to enjoy lives or relieve stress. There are other technology like the photocopy machine or the printer, these new item are used in work, these gadgets makes our lives easier and work more efficient. We are able to produce things faster. These new technology are improving themselves everyday.

Vaccines, the antibiotics, these cures are created just because of technology. Cures are useful now to cure illnesses. Back in those days, there was no cure polio, but now there are vaccines to prevent polio. Many other illness or diseases have vaccines to prevent or cures. Technology has save many lives and this helps the population and economy a lot. Technologies are a great help to the medical help.

Technologies could also harm people for example the creation of the computer virus or the invention machineries. Machines are able to cut down the forest faster. Contributing to global warming. Computer viruses harm the internet world causing the economy to drop. The creation of bombs and other weaponries causing war and conflicts. All these technology is too threatening the world. We must not let this happen. The technology world might turn into a world of chaos. With technologies, we are able to counter this dangerous aspect but one day technologies might turn back on us.

Technologies helpfulness or danger to us, it is up to us to decide but technology will forever be with us and we can never run away from it. We must use it wisely and never let man’s creation destroy man.

chong boon school rules

“It’s not fair!” every student exclaims when they have to take off their shoes and socks just because they wore ankle socks and yet their plain white. The school implemented this rule for them not to wear ankle socks. Same goes for the other school rules. I agree that these rules should be there and this makes the school a safe place. Are these rules hurting the students more than making them learn a lesson?

I think serious offence should be punished severely. Serious offence such bullying and smoking should be handles properly and strictly. These offences will increase if it is not stop properly and it gets dangerous. These offences dangerous both to the school and students. The offences are strictly deal with. This is good and the rules come in good use to support their acts. Expulsion or canning is used to teach them a lesson. The punishments are not as good, not everything can be stop immediately after the canning, that is where the counselling comes. Counselling is better as it helps and makes the student think about his action. The consequences are good in this case, serious offences should be dealt severely and yet be kind.

Trivial offences are slightly strict. Trivial matters such as the hair is too long or wearing ankle socks are slightly too strict. The consequences are too strict. These offences should be given a second chance for first timers. Offences such as wearing ankle socks to school, taking off their socks and shoes, this should not happen as the offender’s might step on something sharp or dangerous. This could lead to blood poisoning or something. Trivial offences also should not be taken lightly; the consequences should be less lenient but yet firm.

Are rules really important? Yes rules are important! Others who disagree would say that rules are meant to broken and there is no need for rules as teachers can also punish them. I disagree with that as rules are used to enforce the consequences and rules are suppose to keep the school together by preventing trouble makers from creating trouble. Rules should not be taken lightly and we should follow it obediently.

Rules are really important and this makes the school a better place for learning. We must follow them or meet with the consequences. Even though some of the rules may seem unfair for some of us, we could always discuss with the principal. The school rules in Chong Boon are important. Do not break them.

chinese new year

Chinese New Year, every child favourite time of year. Holidays for non-Chinese having lots of red packets for the Chinese both old and young. Chinese New Year is not only for the red packets and the money inside it. Teenagers and kids take this holiday for fun and laughter. Being nice to their aunties and uncles hoping for more money. At the end of the day, competing with your sibling s who gets more money. There is a deeper meaning than collecting red packets.

For instance Chinese new year actually have many superstition and ‘rules’ to follow. My father is actually very strict about that. Chinese new also have many lessons during the two days. On the eve of Chinese New Year we have our reunion dinner, this must for every Chinese family. What is this dinner actually means. This means reunion. We unite as one family eating together. We also usually eat the fish salad or ‘Yu Sheng’. This is also a very meaningful dish as words of wisdom are said.

On the first day, we must greet the eldest of the family first and serve them tea. Serving tea is also a tradition. This tea ceremony represents love. Making friends with relatives or indirect friends are also important while on the journey of collecting money. Chinese New Year, a time when everybody’s happy. This also the best time to make up for broken relationship or friendship. This is the time to be happy. Chinese New Year is also not about taking. We also must give something in return. Words of good luck are said and mandarin oranges are given out. All these things represent prosperity and luck. On Chinese New Year, we must not owe anything, otherwise, u will owe for the year. We might not believe but is very something one should know.

Chinese is not about money, is not about the holidays but is for us know the deep meaning behind this day, we must also respect it even though is not our culture. We must enjoy it and make the best out of it. Chinese new year is the holiday, I will never forget. (359 words)

Singapore Flyer

The trip to the Singapore flyer was fantastic. I was taken aback by its gigantic size as it always seemed much smaller when my parents drive by it in the car. The venue itself was also very big. I expected it to be like a ride in a fun fair. Besides the flyer, there were also many other attractions, such as the rainforest. I was very excited before I took the ride. I remember feeling like the happiest kid on earth, being one of the first to sit the world’s tallest flyer. It was a feeling I cannot put into words.

The place was filled with excitement. Everybody’s heart was beating very fast. No one could sit down properly. The chattering of the pupils was so great. The place was empty. The place has a huge man made rainforest in the building. There are also many shops and eateries in the building. The smell of fresh flowers filled the building. It was a very beautiful place indeed.

The most exciting part of the flight was when we were right on the top of the structure. We could really see almost everything. It was like seeing Singapore in 3-D map. It was really exciting. The journey was like reading a book. I felt very excited as I do not know what will happen next. Not knowing what will I see next. I was very inquisitive, keep looking for more exciting things and enjoying the flight. One thing caught my attention. It was the merlion. By the time I spotted the merlion, it was already very small. Our icon, the merlion looks so pathetic from the view. It was very ironic, as a lion is big but up on the flight I is so small. I find the journey too short, it was impossible to enjoy the scenery and the ride. For the price, it should be two rounds instead of one. If only we can go in the evening. The whole atmosphere will be different. The scenery will be beautiful. Catching the sunset. How nice! There will also be city lights in Singapore. My expectations were not really met but I can say I really enjoy myself.

There was one funny occasion; it was the time when my classmate Rasheed was so scared he could wet himself. Even though we are at a different capsule, we could still examine him and laugh at him. I find he wasted the money as he just sits there and cover his face. It was funny as we laugh at him. There were many other classmates who were also acrophobic but they still looked out. It was funny.

The trip was definitely worthwhile. It was one of the best fieldtrip we ever made. We had at such a good price. We had fun but we also learn things. I would go for the flight again if can. We can find more landscapes and enjoy the scenery. The flyer should be introduce and everybody should go as it was Singapore’s greatest attraction.

HAS THE INTERNET DONE MORE HARM THAN GOOD?

I disagree that the internet has done more harm than good, but more good. . The internets not only help students but also adults, children and even old folks. However we should not grant it uncontrollable power our lives, for while, if the internet can be interesting and helpful, there is no doubt that it does have several unwelcome aspects as well which we should consider. As technology improves and as the world move on, the internet will become an integral part of our lives and we will not be able to ignore it.

Internet, say its admirers is very useful and educational, and they point to many website such as “wikipedia.com” and “ask.com”. These websites let students able to study and do research. The internet to businessmen and adults are very important as it is use for communication. You can instantaneously transmit something from opposite sides of the world and for some businessmen, the business is on the internet itself, it help to raise the economy such as ‘ebay’ which you are able to sell and buy things on the internet. The best thing is that everyone can access the internet.

Some might argue that internet has done more harm than good. The internet is not a suitable place for young children. This is basically because of threats of pop-ups, pornography and scams that can trick the child. The internet is not only a bad place for children but also to teenagers. They use it to do illegal things, they use it for sexual abuse, and the children who are addicted to internet games can no longer study their lessons but play internet games. Then those who has graduated from college does not want to find jobs because they rather want to play internet games such as ‘DotA’, ‘Maple Story’ and other internet games.

In conclusion, the internet is like a tool, by itself is not harmful; it's how we use the internet that makes it harmful. I disagree that internet does more harm than good and wish to say that the internet does have several effect that are detrimental to our well-being. However, we can choose to be in control of what we wish to see or do by asking for greater censorship of websites or by switching off the computer! (383 WORDS)

Something Interesting That Happen During The Holiday

During the holiday, I want to Australia. It’s been a long time since I went there. If I could I remember correctly. I was only five years old. The main event was not the sightseeing and visiting of places. Instead, we are supposed to attend my cousin’s wedding. I was very excited about it as I have not been to a western wedding. Usually we have a Chinese wedding which may varies from a five course meal or more. From what I was told, we are having only a three course meal. Before the trip, I had a rough idea what the wedding might be as seen on the television.

It was the wedding day, it was a long drive to “Blue Mountains” where the ceremony is held. After that we took a tram ride down the mountains, it was like a min rollercoaster. We took a nice long but scenic trail where the ceremony is held. After the ceremony, it was to have dinner. It’s no ordinary dining area like how Chinese wedding dinner is held; the tables are on a revolving floor and the VIP are seating at a corner so everyone has a chance to converse with the bride( cousin) and groom. The dishes weren’t very nice. Maybe because we are too used to the Chinese dishes like cold dish for appetizer Shark’s Fin soup for the second dish and so on. The wedding was very fun and it’s almost like a party. it was a holiday I never forget .

It ended very late at 2am in the morning (Australia time). We had to squeeze into a small car and the journey home was terrible and there were no air conditioner. To make things worst it was raining so we are not able to open the windows. It took us two hours to reach the hotel. It was a wonderful wedding.
